North Coast Adventures: Cabot Cape Breton
Welcome to North Coast Adventures, a new short series where we highlight some of our favorite places, coast-to-coast and beyond.
By Matt Fernandez
This place is truly a bucket-list golf destination. Nestled on the stunning coast of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Cabot offers a unique and unforgettable mix of challenging golf, breathtaking scenery, and genuine hospitality.
The Scenic Route
The journey itself feels like part of the adventure—after a couple of flights and a four-hour shuttle from Halifax, you arrive at this remote slice of paradise. Halifax, by the way, is a cool spot. We spent the night there before heading up to Cabot, exploring a few spots and soaking in the local vibe. Highly recommend taking some time to check it out.
Once you’re on the shuttle, the drive to Cabot passes in a flash. It feels like a mix of Maine and Ireland with a dash of Northern Michigan’s coastal charm. The drive passes by pretty quick with good views, talks and tunes.
Challenge & Beauty
Both of Cabot’s 18-hole courses, Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs, are world-class. Both courses sit on the coastline, with rolling terrain and sweeping ocean views that take your breath away. They’re designed to challenge and reward in equal measure, creating rounds that are as exciting as they are memorable. And we can't forgot the 10-hole par-3 course 'Hawk's Nest'—some fun holes, with next-level scenery.
Unforgettable Eats
And then there’s the food. We’re talking lobster rolls so good we lost count (over/under was at least 8 per man). Breakfast sandwiches that set you up for a great day on the course, and a burger that’s exactly what you want after 18 holes. Coore’s Lobster Shack has the kind of laid-back vibe you want after a day of golf, with games indoors and out for an extra dose of fun.
From the courses to the food to the incredible views, Cabot Cape Breton is just a phenomenal experience top to bottom. It’s one of those places you won’t stop talking about for years to come. More to come on this place soon.
